Settle down! It’s just cocoa! My kids are crazy for hot chocolate. My feeling, however, is if I am going to consume calories from beverages those calories are being poured from a bottle or a box.
So I splurged on candy cane cocoa over the holidays. It sounds silly to say a flavored hot cocoa is a splurge. But, these days we talk a lot about value around our house. It was in a small container and it was pricey by my quick calculations. When I opened up the can there were itty bitty bits of peppermint candies on the top of the mix. That was it! So I grabbed my Costco size hot cocoa mix, added the candy cane cocoa and then had my son smashed up left over candy canes. He was happy to help…imagine.
I just added the candy canes and mixed it in there. Here’s the view from the top of the mason jar that I used to store the mix. And, the candy cane bits are generous throughout the mix.
Here’s my candy cane hot cocoa station for the winter; complete with pink/white marshmallows I found before the holidays.
