Dining Room Makeover.. it started with a can a paint

My dining room update started with a $35 can of paint. And now- surprise suprise- everything else is desperate to be tweaked. I wonder if this is what happens with cosmetic procedures??

This is what I want above my dining room table:

Here is my reality: It is a builder stock $49.99 light fixture. So technically my paint cans cost more than the light fixture. Here is the before paint photo:

Here’s my new ceiling with newly updated paint.

And, here is the Rustic Glass Pendant from Pottery Barn that I have my eye on for my ceiling. It’s on sale for 2 for $299. … Hmmm…. what do you think?

Crafty Chick Chalkboard

Maybe it’s the hint of the school year, but I am crazy for chalkboards! After completing my first framed chalk board for our basement here, I wanted to add one for the dining room.

I bought all my supplies at Home Depot. I bought a 2′x4′ sheet of plywood for $8.00.
Baseboard trim was under a $1.00 psf
Chalkboard paint ($10.00)
Tip: Make sure the plywood it isn’t warped or bending..it doesn’t unbend
I used my nail gun to nail this to the wall and then I added the trim pieces to the board. I let the paint cure for a few days before I did the next step.

I forgot to do this next step on my last project. Make sure you take a piece of chalk and rub it across the chalkboard. Erase and then it’s ready to go!
